ESG Space Industry Report

ASTRAIOS is a Horizon Europe project aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the European space sector by better aligning education with future industry needs. A key output of the project is a report on ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) practices in the space industry, bringing together insights from leading companies, academia and policymakers.

The challenge was to turn a complex, multi-audience publication into something coherent, engaging and readable. The report needed to speak at the same time to entrepreneurs, educators and decision-makers, while moving beyond a purely technical tone.

I led the creative direction of the publication. I developed the overall concept—“Human Orbits”—to reflect the central tension of the project: the relationship between a highly technological sector and the human values shaping its future. This translated into a visual approach balancing a structured, “space-inspired” aesthetic with warmer, more human elements, and a narrative flow moving from big-picture context to close-up company stories.

Working with my team, we created a full visual system for the report, including custom illustrations, infographics and editorial design. We intentionally used a more handcrafted illustration style to bring a sense of texture and humanity to the material, helping the ESG stories feel grounded and relatable.

The result is a publication that presents complex ideas in a clearer, more accessible way, while giving the project a distinct visual identity.
