Beyond GDP (E-learning design support and video production)

IISD’s Learning Beyond GDP project is a free four-module e-course that introduces the limits of GDP and explores alternative ways of measuring national progress, including comprehensive wealth. This framework looks beyond economic output to include natural, human, social, produced and financial capital — offering a broader picture of long-term prosperity and well-being.

The challenge was to make a technical economic topic clear, engaging and visually accessible for learners, policymakers and development practitioners. The course needed to explain complex ideas without losing their substance, and to create a learning experience that felt contemporary and easy to follow.

I developed the visual strategy for the learning tool, creating the backbone of its look and feel through collage-style module and lesson openers, redesigned diagrams, icons and technical figures. I also conceptualized, scripted and produced an introductory course video and a promotional video to support outreach and enrolment.

Together, these materials helped translate the “beyond GDP” agenda into a more accessible learning experience, connecting data, policy and sustainability through clearer visuals and a stronger narrative structure.
